    Default Hello,1st posting. EWS.

This is my 1st posting so bear with me. As my name sugests i am the UK`s biggest 66 fan!!!!!. Seriously though,my topic is EWS loco`s. I am all for investment in our railways, and love them or hate them the 66`s do a fantastic job. This is at the expense of the older but much loved `British` classes many of which were just switched off and left out in the open. If EWS is breaking new ground with more freight(and others to) surely their will be a need for some of these machines to be put back into traffic. EWS is reluctent to sell the `family jewels` as they know other operators will steal their business(legally) such is the competition from DRS,Freightliner,Victa,Seco,GBRF etc. They should be forced to sell loco`s and not hold on to them `just in case` as the excuse always is. The 56`s and 58`s were barely run in when withdrawn and their are many years left in them if looked after properly. I know this will stir the mucky waters but what does anyone else think?

I think the only reason they are keeping them for the `just in case` theory. Just incase one goes bang and if they don't have spares they will be stuffed.

The 58 i think they should use more as i think they are a great loco.

    Thanks for posting

they are being stupid by doing that really... i mean surely they know that when they are stored for a long time and then taken out of store they will proove to be RUBBISH, like the recent catastrophe with the swt class 458s.... got a maximum reliability over the Desiros before going in to store... stored for a while.... taken out and the reliability is as low as the floor. Its like the little kid syndrome: "i dont want to use these toys but no he cant have them because they are mine".

First Great Western had to put some 158s in store and they had overcrowding problems before being ordered to do this

i have always thought that EWS were a rip off merchant, bought by Ed Burkhart to make money and not provide a service,

It has in most cases, ripped off everyone and is now selling for scrap what were good locos, why, because it has deliberatly kept them until the price of scrap has risen and stored them outside so even if you now got one of them, it will take alot more effort to get it going.

Just like everything made these days, the 66's are not built to last, and neither is EWS.
