Default New Years Day - Looking for somewhere to go - MHR and FOKAB

Readers who live in the south who may be wondering how to spend New Years Day may be interested to know that there are free classic buses running between Winchester Bus Station and Alresford Station for the Watercress Line. It is planned to run an alternative steam and diesel multiple unit service - Steam trains will depart Alresford for a round trip to Alton and back at at 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00. Multiple Unit will depart at 11.43 and 13.43. ( There a single journey also at 15.43 ). The classic buses are being run in connection with an annual bus running day based at Winchester organised by FOKAB ( Friends of King Alfred Buses ). The classic bus rides normally start around 09.00 and finish 17.00 - there are other local attractions open as well.

Default Watercress Line New Years Day

I should have mentioned that the Watercress Line will be charging normal public fares on lst January 2008. Adults £12.00. Only the Bus Rides are free. If you happen to be a regular visitor to the Mid-Hants Railway, you will find it economical to become a member of the MHRPS, as travel on normal days is 50% off and there are also many fringe benefits.
