Thumbs down Dartmoor Railway Closed and Up for Sale.

I have received information whilst working at The Mid-Hants Railway today ( 20th April ) that last Wednesday ( 16th April ), it was announced that the " Dartmoor Railway " along with Okehampton Station have closed, due to the company owning the business, ceasing all railway operations. I cannot speculate what will happen regarding the Sunday Rider Trains and Bus Routes, which operate to and from Exeter - Okehampton Station and of course the Locos and Train Units which operate Sampford Courtenay - Meldon Quarry. The operations were affiliated to the Heritage Railway Association but the operating company have put the railway business up for sale along with The Weardale Railway.

Thumbs up Sunday Exeter - Okehampton services.

Devon County Council / First GW have been able to commence the 2008 Sunday Only Exeter to Okehampton train service - £6.00 day rover. However, the Meldon Servcie will not be running and the bookshop and restaurant at Okehampton will remain closed. The connection bus services will operate from outside of the station. The £6.00 as you probably know includes the majority of Devon's bus services and also trains on the Plymouth-Gunnislake line.
