New Forest Gateway - Bus Initiative

Readers may like to pass on the information that as from Sunday 6th July 2008 until 28th September 2008, a new initiative in conjunction with South West Trains, New Forest Rural District Council, Wilts and Dorset Buses and First Group Buses, will provide free bus con
nections at Weekends Only to rail passengers arriving at Ashurst New Forest and Brockenhurst Rail Stations to Lyndhurst. On Saturdays, the bus services will be the normal Routes 56 and 56A 's but on Sundays, dedicated buses will run hourly from Ashurst Station Forecourt - Route 56D ( Meeting Trains in both directions ) and Brockenhurst every 30 minutes from the Northside Interchange Route 56C. Rail passengers must hold valid tickets with with either destinations - Ashurst New Forest or Brockenhurst in order to travel free of charge. On Sundays, non-rail passengers may use the buses for £1.00 each single journey. A "bus lane" around part of the busy one way street system in Lyndhurst has been temporary introduced to assist with the timekeeping of the 56, 56A and 56C routes. If the scheme proves a success, then it will be repeated in 2009
