    Smile TV Railway Walks

Readers may like to be advised that BBC2 on Mondays at 8pm are broadcasting six programmes called "Railway Walks". These were previously shown on BBC4 but if you had missed them this is a good opportunity to see them. They were made for a general interest audience but along the closed lines, the presenter, Julia Bradbury meets various local characters associated with them and reveals some good rail associated discussion points. Well worth watching and a dvd of the series has been made.

Yes i caught the one on this week, and thought it was very good.

Two down points to mention were,

    1. Why have that tosser Woolmar on it.

    2. Why close such a beautiful line especially when most of it looks untoutched apart from the actual track.

I am looking forward to seeing further episodes

I walked the Rodwell Way, Weymouth today ( 21st April ). The first part of the ex-Portland Railway is completely obliterated under main roads and industrial units. The start of the walk was therefore hard to find - however, once found it was just as shown on the tv. There are descriptive signs along the path and sites of the old stations have signs on them. The whole of the Rodwell Walk is tar-mac surface and is used mainly by cyclists - so had to ensure I was not run over! I will go on the Bill itself another day to try and find the route when it circuited the Eastern Cliff edges.
